Overview
Skills Observation Tracking in Craft Connect allows evaluators to provide structured assessments of learner skill performance in real-world workplace settings. When this feature is enabled, a learner requests an evaluation and you can review the observed skill, submit feedback, and score the attempt using your program’s defined criteria. Evaluations may include competency scales, target score thresholds, and additional program-specific fields such as site location or rotation details. This process supports consistent documentation of learner progress and helps ensure skill mastery is tracked accurately across the program.
Evaluating a Skills Observation
Step 1: From your homepage, navigate to your pending approvals. You can do this by selecting see all to the right of Pending Approvals, or by clicking Pending on the left hand side bar.
Step 2: Tab over to the Observations tab.
Step 3: From here, click into the first skill you would like to evaluate.
Step 4: Select the appropriate score for the learner and, if needed, add a comment.
Step 5: To finalize your observation, click Save. If multiple skill observations are awaiting your approval, Focused Evaluation Mode will automatically guide you to the next observation that requires your attention.
You can also see pending skill observations by clicking the Skill Attempts tab on your pending approvals module of the homepage.
Submitting & Approving an Observation on Behalf of a Learner
There may be times when you need to log and approve an observation on behalf of a learner, without requiring them to submit it themselves. In these cases:
Step 1: Navigate to the Learners page and select the appropriate learner, then open their program.
Step 2: In the Skills Observation Tracking section, check the skills you’d like to review and click the blue Review New Attempts button.
Step 3: Enter the date the learner performed each skill and select the appropriate score. You may also include a comment, if desired.
Step 4: When finished, click Record & Save to finalize your submission.
