Overview
The administrator of your program may have implemented a rubric for you to use when evaluating your learner. This article will go over how to utilize a rubric to evaluate and score a learner.
Scoring a Learner with a Rubric
Step 1: On your desired activity page, locate the scoring rubric under Rubric.
Step 2: Click the rubric name to preview the rubric criteria. Please note, there may be multiple criterion attached to your Rubric. Before you begin scoring, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the rubric. This document outlines the specific criteria and expectations for your learner's performance.
Step 3: Once you have familiarized yourself with the rubric, proceed to evaluating your learner. Select Score Rubric. This will open the scoring interface, allowing you to evaluate your learner's performance against each criterion.
Step 4: Select your scores based on your learner’s performance. If you would like to add a comment to further explain your score, you can do so for each criterion.
Step 5: When you are finished, select Attach in the upper right corner. If you have fulfilled all other activity requirements and are ready to also Approve the activity, you can select Attach & Approve.
If there are multiple scores in your rubric, Connect will show you an average of those scores on the right hand side.
After you complete your evaluation, select Approve or Return to complete your assessment, if you did not select Attach & Approve previously.
Deleting Scores
If you find you would like to redo your scores or made a mistake with your scoring, you can delete your scores and start over.
Step 1: Select the trash can icon to reset the scoring.
Step 2: Select Score Rubric to redo the scoring.
Understanding Target Rubrics
At times, your administrator may set a target rating to your rubric. These targets are visible to both Learners and Evaluators, providing greater clarity on performance expectations. If a target rating is set, you will see it listed to the right of the rubric. When a target rating is set, a learner must score the target rating or higher.
Updating Evaluations
If you need to re-evaluate a learner's activity, you can select Update Evaluation. Please note that selecting this option will completely reset the current scoring. You will then be able to review the activity again and assign a new score.
By following these steps and carefully considering the rubric criteria, you can provide a fair and accurate evaluation of your learner's performance.
