Overview
As an instructor, you will be assigned to specific plans within a program. The activities within these plans will typically have a simple rubric for assessment by default; however, program administrators may choose to implement customized rubrics. This article will guide you on how to effectively utilize rubrics for scoring.
Scoring a Learner with a Rubric
Step 1: On your desired activity page, locate the scoring rubric under Rubric.
Step 2: Click the rubric name to preview the criterion. Please note that there may be multiple criterion attached to your rubric. Before beginning the scoring process, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the rubric.
Step 3: Once you have familiarized yourself with the rubric, proceed to evaluate your learner by selecting Score Rubric. This will open the scoring interface, enabling you to assess your learner's performance against each criterion.
Step 4: Select the appropriate scores based on your evaluation of their performance. If you wish to add a comment to provide additional context for your score, you can do so for each criterion.
Step 5: When you have completed the evaluation, select Attach in the upper-right corner.
If there are multiple scores in your rubric, the OJL Tracker will show you an average of those scores on the right hand side.
Step 6: After you complete your evaluation, select Approve or Return to complete your assessment.
Deleting Scores
If you need to redo your scores or correct a mistake, you can delete your scores and start over. Simply select the trash can icon to reset the scoring. Then, select Score Rubric to reassign the scores.
Updating Evaluations
If you need to re-evaluate a learner's activity, you can select Update Evaluation. Please note that choosing this option will reset the current scoring entirely. You will then have the opportunity to review the activity again and assign a new score.
By carefully following these steps and thoroughly assessing each aspect against the rubric criterion, you can provide an equitable and precise evaluation of your learner's performance.
